Recreation

Although exploring the wonderful wilderness that is the Hazelton area can be very rewarding, many find enjoyment in recreational activities. Have fun diving into the activities below.

Skateboarding

The New Hazelton Skate Park, which was founded through donations, is a small place where teenagers and kids alike spend their summer days learning new tricks and skills. Located directly on Highways 16, the park offers challenges for all skill levels.

Berry Picking

If you know where to look berries are plentiful. Look out for Saskatoon berries, raspberries, wild strawberries, gooseberries, soapberries, huckleberries, wild blueberries, wild cranberries, wild black currants, thimble berries and salmon berries.

Tennis

Newly renovated, the local tennis court offers fast-paced competition for hours on end. It is located on Bowser Street next to the elementary school.

Ice Skating

12th Avenue, right next to the elementary school is a small ice rink that allows kids and adults alike to enjoy the sport of skating outdoors. Another rink, The Ken Trombley Memorial Arena was recently converted into an outdoor rink and contains years of Canadian pride, tears, and sweat. It is just a few minutes away from the hotel on Highway 62 next to the secondary school.

Snowmobiling

Head up the mountain, along trails or to the lake. The Hazeltons is a great location for snowmobiling adventures.

Tobogganing

Pick a hill and slide down or ask a local for their favorite spot. This is a good old fashioned way to have a day of fun. Just don’t forget your hot chocolate.
